A Little Bit About Us…

Our Message, Model, Roots, History, and Facilities.

From the Pastor

Why we're here…

We hope that San Juan can share the love of God and the message of Jesus Christ with our community. Port Townsend, like all towns, has its own character, challenges, and needs. Every week we help people move forward with their lives. Sometimes that means helping them with some of life's basics. But all of us are more than just the things we need to get by. We are all a creation of God, and God has a will and purpose for each of us.

Welcome, Home!

Our Purpose

We hope we can...

  • Share the message of Jesus Christ with those who want to discover God's will for their life.
  • Bring a message of faith, hope, and love to the people of Port Townsend and the surrounding area.
  • Extend a helping hand to those who need it.
  • Support healthy activities by opening our facility to other groups.
  • Provide a safe place for teenagers and children through activities and events.

A Little History

We turned fifty a while back. We're still going strong...

In 1959 Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Trafton of Seattle bought a large, three-story white Victorian home in Port Townsend. This house was built in 1888 by Captain John Quincy Adams, a descendent of the famous Adams family of the American Revolution. Thinking back on the purchase of the home, both Gordon and June could not understand what compelled them to buy. They owned a home in Des Moines, just south of Seattle and now a home in Port Townsend! It was at this time the Traftons joined the Angle Lake Baptist Church in Seattle. Thinking that they did not need both homes, the couple put both houses up for sale, planning to live in the one that did not sell first. The house in Seattle finally sold so Gordon and June, along with their boys Bill and Frank, moved into the 19-room mansion in Port Townsend. Little did they know that God was working out His perfect plan.
